Kathmandu, Feb. 11:The government is all set to rescue 180 Nepalis from Wuhan of Hubei province China, the epicentre of the deadly novel coronavirus, on February 15.
Ministry of Health and Population has accelerated the preparatory works to repatriate the Nepalis from Wuhan and handle them safely here.
The Ministry informed it had been intensively working to manage the vehicles to bring them safely from airport to quarantine area, sterilisation of vehicles, among others.
Sagar Dahal, co-spokesperson of the Ministry, said that security forces would be deployed around the quarantine area and foods, toilets, drinking water and internet service would also be managed for the facilities of the students in the area.
Two buildings of NEA located at Kharipati of Lalitpur have been emptied to keep the evacuees from China for quarantine.
Dahal said that the government had managed altogether 147 isolation wards in 36 hospitals - 5-hubs and 31 satellite hospitals - for the treatment of coronavirus infected people.
He said that training had been given to more than 60 doctors for safely handling the patients infected by coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Nepal Airlines Corporation has also made required preparations for sending its wide-body aircraft A-330 to rescue students wishing to return home from Wuhan.
NAC spokesperson Archana Khadka said that NAC had made internal preparations for making a rescue flight to Wuhan as per the direction of the government.
“We have almost completed arrangements to send the aircraft; the government is to decide the date,” she said.
Khadka said that the NAC had arranged aircraft managing its regular schedule and also managing crews ensuring their safety in bringing Nepalis from Wuhan.
She said that corporation’s wide-body A-330 would make around 5 hour 30 minute flights to Wuhan for one way. The aircraft may be arranged for around two days which would hamper some business of the corporation, she said.
Flights of at least two days shall be managed to dispatch the aircraft and managerial works for the same have begun, it is said.
She, however, said that Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) was handling the preparation regarding the permission of
special flight to Wuhan.
So far, as per the media reports, more than 900 people have died from coronavirus while over 40,000 have been infected with it.
