Kathmandu, July 17: The government said on Thursday that preparations have begun to establish a separate customs office in Darchula with an aim of expanding customs area up to Chhangru and Tinkar of Byas Gaunpalika.
A proposal tabled by the Ministry of Finance at the Cabinet meeting held on July 13 to establish, review and expand the area of revenue collection by adding up some places in Darchula, including Channgru, Tinkar and Jholungebagar of Byas Gaunaplika, was endorsed.
Under the proposal, the government has decided to review and expand the territory of other customs offices like Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha Airport Customs Office of Rupandehi district after the airport comes into operation and upgrade the customs office of Triveni, according to Minister for Finance and Communication and Information Technology Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada.
Some of the customs points have also been changed. They include Nawalparasi-based Maheshpur customs office whose area has been extended up to Bishnupura, Bhujaha, and Parsauni, according to the Minister for Finance.
The government has taken the decision to expand the territory of the revenue collection as per the Section 4 of the Customs Act-2007.
The Cabinet meeting held this week also decided to extend the term of seven consulars, promoted two other consulars as honorary consular generals, appoint one consular and relieve
another one. The government, however, did not disclose the names of those promoted, appointed and relieved consulars.
The Cabinet meeting also promoted Colonel Jeevan Prasad Dahal as Brigadier General and Lieutenant Colonel Om Bahdur Bhatta as Colonel. The Cabinet also transferred Brigadier General Rajeshwor Bhattarai of Legal Department of Nepali Army Headquarters.
The Cabinet meeting has also decided to include District Hospital’s chiefs as member of the District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre, and Chief of Health Directorate in the State-COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre as member.
The government has also extended the term of paying renewal fee (eight instalments) of Smart Telecom till September 16, 2020.
The government has also decided to give 75 per cent fee exemption for parking both national and international flights in all the airports, including Tribhuvan International Airport, from March 14 and up to one month of the formal announcement of the end of COVID-19 pandemic from Nepal.
