Kathmandu, Mar. 27: The Ministry of Health and Population has announced vacancies for 34 doctors and 100 staff nurses on contract basis to fulfill the recent need of health workers for the prevention and control of COVID-19.
Despite the cases of COVID-19 not increasing alarmingly, the country with three cases tested positive till date (with one recovered and two undergoing treatment), the government has said to be well prepared anyway.
Following the nationwide lockdown, most of the people have been staying indoors and thus reducing the chances of transmission of the virus.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai said that the government was working to establish quarantines with a capacity to accommodate 130,000 persons. However, the number of health workers is way low.
The Health and Population Ministry’s plan to open the vacancy for health workers is a bid to increase their numbers and help prevent the virus from bigger damage.
According to the vacancy announced by the Ministry on Wednesday, they have demanded seven general physicians (postgraduates in general or internal medicine), seven anesthesiologists (postgraduates in anesthesiology), 20 medical officers (undergraduates/MBBS) and 100 staff nurses (PCL nursing graduates).
Talking to TRN earlier, Information Officer at the ministry Ganesh Shreevastav said, “The health workers will be increased on contract basis as per the need in the respective time.”
The recent vacancy, which also is on contract basis, has requested the candidates to apply with their respective documents, including their academic certificates alongside registration certificate of Nepal Medical Council.
The application can be submitted at the Ministry of Health and Population or can be mailed to admin@mohp.gov.np, as per the vacancy announcement.
The vacancy notice states the final date to submit application as seven days of the vacancy announcement, with extension of one day only if a government holiday falls in between.
As per the ministry, there will be no examination for the candidates and they will be selected on the basis of their eligibility criteria.
