Kathmandu, Apr. 27: Former Prime Minister and chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has asked the government to take immediate measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak by giving high priority to the public health.
Issuing a statement here on Monday, Prachanda drew the government’s attention over the surging cases of coronavirus in the country and appealed to make proper arrangements for health equipment and supplies in local bodies with high priority.
Stating that the working class is the hardest hit by the pandemic, he asked the government and private sector to make proper arrangements of foods and other special assistance for them.
“Since the World Health Organisation (WHO) has already listed Nepal among the high risk countries, I urge all three tier governments and party ranks to voluntarily lead the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
He also urged the doctors, health workers and security personnel to work with high morale for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and make a special request to the entire community to adopt high vigilance by following all the health protocols.
