Lumbini, Jan. 9: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said that the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) of Bhairahawa would be inaugurated and brought into operation within two months.
Inaugurating the ninth annual general meeting of the Federation of Hotel Entrepreneurs in Bhairahawa on Saturday, Minister Ale informed that preparations were being made to conduct a calibration flight at the airport soon.
“Some parts of the plane seem to touch the ground while landing. That is why India has raised some objections,” he said, adding, “I have talked to the Tourism Minister of India to address these concerns.”
Stating that the Indian side had responded positively, Ale said that the airport would greatly boost tourism in the region.
Ale also shared that a national tourism revival committee had been formed to help the sector get back on its feet. He also assured that the problems seen in the Narayanhiti Museum and Pashupati Area Development Trust would be resolved soon.
