Kathmandu, Nov 29 : Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali returned home today after completing his official visits to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Serbia.
Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) this morning, the Foreign Minister said during the visits, he held meetings with his counterparts of both countries. During the meetings, matters relating to bilateral interest and mutual concerns were discussed.
On the occasion, the Minister called for enthusiastic participation in the intellectual debate on 'climate change, mountain ecology and the future of human beings' to be held under the first edition of Sagarmatha Sambad, the international discussions forum that has been scheduled in Nepal for coming April 13-14.
During his meeting with his Russian counterpart, the Foreign Minister talked about the Russia's investment and assistance in Nepal's tourism, agricultural and hydropower sector. Russia as he said is ready to cooperate with Nepal in its development endevours.
The Minister, on behalf of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, extended an invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin for Nepal visit. Similarly, he on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also offered an invitation to the Russian Prime Minister to visit Nepal at a convenient time.
As he said, he also invited his Russian counterpart for Nepal visit.
During his stay in Russia, the Minister also participated in the programme organised jointly by the Non Resident Nepali Association, Russia and the Nepal Russia Friendship Society. He had set out for a Moscow visit last Saturday. He was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi and senior officials at the Ministry.
