By Muna Hamal, Surkhet, Nov. 16: A fire that broke out at the marketplace of Gamgadhi, Mugu, on Monday midnight, has burned 17 houses located at the marketplace. One house was demolished in order to control the fire from further spreading.
According to Madhav Shrestha, Superintendent of Police (SP) and spokesperson of District Police Office, Mugu said that fire had started to break out around midnight yesterday, damaging 18 houses and burning three movable shops (ghumti) in the nearby marketplace.
"Of the 18 houses damaged, 17 were caught with fire and one was demolished to take fire under control," he added.
It has been predicted that the fire broke out from the diyo (lamp) that was burning in one house, he said, while adding that Fire Brigade, Nepal Army as well as locals were mobilised to put out the fire.
"All the details of the fire-induced loss are being collected," He added.
