By Dev Ram Rrasad Yadav, Saptari, Mar. 19: A cow farm at Agnisair of Krishna Shrawan Municipality-5 of Saptari caught fire on Friday morning.
According to the police, the fire gutted 18 cows and two calves.
Of the 60 cows and calves in the Krishna Ram Multipurpose Agriculture Farm run by Manoj Sah and Dinanath Sah near Mahuli Bridge of the municipality, the fire destroyed 20 cows and calves.
Chief of District Police Office, Saptari SP Rajendra Dhamala said, "A worker at the farm saw the cow shed catching fire all of a sudden. The cows lost their lives while they ran towards the fire after their straps were opened."
According to the police, the fire has already been extinguished. However, the details as to the loss caused by the fire are yet to be ascertained.
Properties worth Rs. 7.5 million were burnt to ashes on Thursday itself at Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-5 of the same district.
