Kathmandu, Sept 29: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the Jitiya festival celebrated in the Terai region has been established as a unique festival of Nepal.
Expressing good wishes for good health and longevity to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Jitiya festival, he said that our culture and traditions have their own distinctive identity.
Stating that unity and social harmony amidst diversity is an example of our cultural practice, Prime Minister Deuba also states that Jitiya festival, is one of the many festivals of the country, that promote harmony and unity in the society.
He said that the Government of Nepal is committed to the protection and promotion of such festivals in recognition of the special significance of the festivals including Jitiya.
Urging all to celebrate the Jitiya festival with unity and joy, Prime Minister Deuba wished that the festival would inspire the mother and her offspring to deepen and strengthen the spirit of mutual harmony, maternal relationship and tolerance.
