Dharan, Sept 9: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav today said efforts were being made to develop the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) as a university. A Senate meeting of the BPKIHS had also decided in this regard last year.
Construction efforts are on to build a health post in each ward, a primary health centre in each rural municipality, a city hospital in municipality and a health institution in state, DPM and Health Minister Yadav said.
He also called for the government to take efforts to control the spreading dengue. The minister was speaking at an event organised to mark the 26th anniversary of the BPKIHS.
Likewise, BPKIHS officiating vice chancellor, Prof Dr Guru Prasad Khanal drew the attention of the ministry to continuing halted constructions of infrastructures for the BPKIHS.
Also on the occasion, a newly built orthopedic surgery care unit has been inaugurated. In attendance on the occasion were also Chief of State 1 Gobinda Bahadur Tumbahang and State Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari. (RSS)
