Kathmandu, Jan. 9: The Election Commission has requested four ministries to help in the process of fixing the polling stations and booths.
The EC has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoLMCPA) to direct their subordinate bodies to provide the necessary assistance. It has also approached the Ministry of Finance.
MoHA is expected to instruct the 77 District Administration Offices of the country, MoFAGA to instruct the 77 District Coordination Committees and the 753 local levels and MoLMCPA to mobilise the Survey Department.
The commission’s spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha informed that the secretaries of the four ministries had also been invited to the meeting of the coordination committee for determining polling stations and polling booths.
Similarly, the commission has decided to prepare a health security protocol to be implemented during the various election-related activities. For this purpose, the commission has consulted with the secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population.
