Kathmandu, May 14: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel Thursday urged the Kathmandu Valley Mayor’s Forum to support the government in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
At a meeting of officials of the Kathmandu Mayor’s Forum at his office in Singha Durbar, the DPM urged the officials to work for the survival of the people by implementing the steps taken by the federal government in the fight against the virus.
He said that success in this battle would be achieved only through the concerted efforts of all levels of the State and support of the people.
The meeting was also attended by Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Chairman of the Valley Mayor’s Forum and Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidhya Sundar Shakya, Vice Chairman of the Forum and Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan and Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Madan Sundar Shrestha.
According to Ganesh Panday, press advisor to DPM Pokhrel, the Mayor’s Forum has proposed to operate integrated isolation centres in four places in the valley.
Similarly, the Mayor’s Forum is going to take initiatives to resolve the current problem in the supply of oxygen and its cylinders.
