Kathmandu, Sept. 18: Sher Bahadur Deuba, main opposition party leader in the Parliament who is also Nepali Congress president, on Wednesday instructed party lawmakers to do not allow to passing the Citizenship bill in present status.
Speaking at NC parliamentary party meeting, Deuba accused the government to trying to forcefully pass the bill in name of majority and the NC should block their move.
The bill is currently under discussion in the State Management and Governance Committee of the House of Representatives.
NC lawmakers were obstructing forwarding the bill from the committee even the ruling party forced to forward it.
NC parliamentary party leader in the National Assembly Surendra Pandey, who was attended in the meeting, informed that Deuba instructed the party lawmakers to do not allow passing bill without its amendment.
The NC was demanding to immediate providing naturalized citizenship to foreign male and female those married with Nepali.
Deuba asked to do not deviate from this stand.
Deuba expressed his ire over the government for forcefully passed the land related bill from the parliament.
