Chitwan, Sept 17: The number of people infected with dengue has reached 2046 in the district since the past two months. This was found among the 6,639 who underwent screening for the virus.
The number continues to rise with government and private hospitals full of people undergoing treatment for fever, says chief of the Health Office, Chitwan Dipak Tiwari. As a result, there is also scarcity of the examination kit for testing of dengue.
Meanwhile, the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry handed over 500 kits to Bharatpur hospital. Earlier the hospital had received 1,000 kits from Bharatpur metropolis and 500 kits from Rotary Club.
The Bharatpur hospital alone is receiving more than 400 fever patients every day. Of them around 150 undergo dengue screening, the hospital sources said. Screening for dengue is available for free in government-run hospitals.
