By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept. 23: The Central Committee meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist), a party in the ruling alliance, has concluded forming a 301-member Central Committee, 71-member Politburo and 35-member Standing Committee of the party.

The meeting that went on for three days starting from Tuesday, also appointed Jhala Nath Khanal, former Prime Minister, as the senior leader of the party and Mukunda Neupane as the leader of the party, according to the party spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada, who is also the chief of the publicity department of the party.

The meeting appointed Bedu Ram Bhusal to the post of general secretary and Prakash Jwala, Dr. Ganga Lal Tuladhar and Dr. Bijay Paudel to the post of deputy general secretary of the party.

Similarly, the party meeting held under the chairmanship of party Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal named seven vice-chairs and four secretaries of the party.

Rajendra Pande, Pramesh Hamal, Ghanendra Basnet, Kedar Neupane, Keshav Lal Shrestha, Dharmanath Shah and Jayanti Rai have been selected as the vice chairs while Nagendra Prasad Chaudhary, Jagannath Khatiwada, Rajendra Kumar Rai and Ram Kumari Jhankri have been chosen as secretaries of the party.

Although there are seven vice-chairs at the central level, there will be only two vice-chairs at the ward level of the party organization, according to spokesperson Khatiwada.

The party has decided to form a 701-member Central Council in which there will be representation from each and every provincial constituency, central commission and departments and mass organizations of the party.

The party has decided to form three commissions, namely the Discipline Commission, the Election Commission and the Central Audit Commission. Each of the commissions will have 35 members while the thematic commissions will have 25 members. A 151-member central advisory board will also be formed, according to spokesperson Khatiwada.

The meeting decided that the US grant under the MCC (Millennium Challenge Corporation) in its present form was not in line with national interest and that it could be forwarded by making it fitting with national interest and through broader political and national understanding.

The meeting dwelt on embracing values and norms of the people's multiparty democracy while it drew the conclusion for unity among leftist forces in the country and a thorough study of the communist movement in Nepal in the present context.
