By Muna Hamal, Surkhet, Mar. 17: CPN-UML has decided to withdraw its support to the Karnali Province government.
The meeting of the CPN-UML parliamentary party of Karnali Provincial Assembly held on Wednesday decided to withdraw its support to CPN (Maoist Centre)-led government.
Mahendra Bahadur Shahi had assumed the position of Chief Minister of Karnali Province with the cooperation of CPN-UML.
Whip of CPN-UML parliamentary party Gulab Jung Shah informed The Rising Nepal that the meeting took the decision to this effect. "Likewise, the meeting has also decided to recall three ministers from our party who are currently in the government," said Shah.
However, the provincial assembly members from the Madhav-Nepal-led faction were not present in the meeting.
Excluding the Speaker, there are 19 provincial assembly members in the CPN-UML parliamentary party. Of the 19 members, only 10 were present in the meeting held today.
Shah said that the decision was passed as the majority of members had attended the meeting. Padma Khadka and Padam Bahadur Royaka, who were in the Nepal-led faction have already shifted to the KP Oli-led faction.
