Kathmandu, Jan. 1: Party statute has been passed from the eighth general convention of the CPN (Maoist Center). Dev Prasad Gurung, a member of the standing committee, informed The TRN Online that the statute has been passed.
The party statute was passed after Gurung, responded to the suggestions and queries raised during the closed session held at Academy hall in Kamaladi on Saturday.
After Gurung requested to amend the party statute by incorporating the suggestions raised in the closed session and pass it in a way that would be finalized by the Central Committee, the draft statute was unanimously passed by the General Convention.
According to the constitution, the party's central committee will now be elected 50 per cent open and 50 per cent fully-proportional through a mixed electoral system. Similarly, the Central Committee will have 299 members.
