COVID-19 update: 1,911 new cases, 961 recoveries, tally surges to 79,278

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 1: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thursday confirmed 1,911 new cases of COVID-19.

In 12,444 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,911 persons were found with the novel coronavirus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the MoHP in the daily press briefing today.

Meanwhile, some 961 COVID-19 patients staying at home isolation or receiving treatment at various institutional isolations across the nation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 71.9 per cent.

Currently, there are 21,830 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 11,069 patients are in home isolation. Some 5,077 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 220 are admitted to the ICU and 25 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 79,278 including 57,389 cases of recovery and 509 death cases.
