Janakpurdham, May 16 : The COVID-19 infections tally has reached 103 in State-2. The data about the detected cases updated by The Ministry of Health and Population on Friday took the state-level tally to 103 from 99 with four more people from Parsa testing positive for the virus.
On Friday evening, the Ministry confirmed nine cases of COVID-19 from different parts of the country. Among the new patients from Parsa, two are minors: nine and 10-year-old, a 23-year-old and a 27-year-old women of Birgunj-9, Parsa.
Similarly, a 17-year-old adolescent girl of Ramananda Chowk in Janakpur, Dhanusha, who was tested positive for the coronavirus, presently lives in Kathmandu, according to State-2 Social Development Secretary Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire.
As the infection rate continues to rise, efforts to prevent and treat the virus have been intensified in the State. The collection of throat swab samples has been expanded. As per the policy of collecting 1,000 throat swab samples through a contract tracing in two days, 350 samples were collected on Friday and collections of 360 samples are underway, said Ghimire.
Similarly, in Kalaiya Hospital in Bara, over 100 samples from media persons and health workers have been collected. Besides, sample collections are going in Saptari, Siraha and Sarlahi by identifying possible vulnerable groups.
Likewise, among 96 patients in the State, 71- 63 males and eight females- are being treated at the Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital and 19- 13 males and six females- are under the isolation care at Birgunj-based Siddhartha School, five are under treatment at Janakpur-based State Hospital and one admitted to the Saptari-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.
So far, 4,980 swab samples have been collected across the State and of them, 3,817 have tested negative and test reports of 1,064 are awaited. Likewise, 5,517 have gone through the Rapid Diagnostic Test.
A total of 1,915 persons are in several quarantines and 4,688 are in home quarantine. The number of people who are self-isolating stands at 108.
