By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jan. 24: An infection of coronavirus has also been detected in Nepal.
The infection of the virus was confirmed in a Chinese national who was in Nepal some two weeks ago.
At a press meet on Friday, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that infection of coronavirus was detected in a Chinese student from Wuhan city of Hubei province in China who visited Nepal two weeks ago.
"A 31-year old student from Wuhan of China had visited Nepal two weeks ago and he had come to the Sukra Raj hospital for check-up suspecting that he may have been infected with the virus. The hospital had kept him for observation for four days and sent him home after taking his blood sample. After a week now, we have got the report of the blood sample and it is confirmed that he was infected with the corona virus," said Dr. Basu Dev Pandey, director of the Sukra Raj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital.
Blood sample of the Chinese student was sent to Hong Kong for laboratory test.
