Construction of extra 70-bed facility at Bheri Hospital at final stage

Nepalgunj, Nov. 29: With the intent of catering to an increasing number of COVID-19 patients, construction of additional 70-bed health facility at Bheri Hospital has reached the final stage. As critical cases of the COVID-19 continue pouring in from Lumbini, Karnali and the Sudur Paschim Provinces, the COVID-19 designated Bheri Hospital had decided to up its capacity.
The hospital had already been operating with 70 beds, but with more patients coming in from other provinces it had to add extra 70 beds, said the Chief at Bheri Hospital, Shyam Sundar Yadav.
As per Yadav, construction of the addition 70-bed hospital is almost complete and will be ready within the next few days.
“It has been almost a month since the construction began. And once it begins accommodating patients, it will greatly help ease the pressure of patients Bheri Hospital,” informed Ram Bahadur Kurumbang, coordinator at COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) Banke and Chief District Officer.
According to CDO Kurumbang, the 70-bed hospital is being built by the coordination committee comprising of Kohalpur Municipality, Baijanath, Rapti Sonari, Duduwa, Narainapur, Khajura and Janaki Rural Municipality with investment of over Rs. 10 million.
Uma Thapa Magar, the Deputy Mayor of Nepalgunj Municipality, expressed exuberance over the swift completion of the 70-bed facility while also pointing out that the newly built hospital would be able to encompass critical COVID-19 cases from all over West Nepal.
