By TRN Online Kathmandu, June 4: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has formed the Constitutional Bench on seniority basis of the judges in the Supreme Court.

The five-member Bench now is chaired by CJ Rana with senior most justice Deep Kumar Karki and Justices Meera Khadka, Harikrishna Karki and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada.

Following dispute over the formation of the Bench to see into the HoR dissolution case in course of the hearing of the case, Chief Justice Rana had announced on Tuesday that the constitutional bench would now be formed on the basis of seniority of the Supreme Court justices., and fixed the hearing for June 6. 

Now, hearing on the writ petitions concerning the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled to be held on June 6.
Previously on June 28 Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana had formed a five-member constitutional bench with justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Dr. Aananda Mohan Bhattarai, Tej Bahadur KC, and Bam Kumar Shrestha alongside himself.

A total of 30 writ petitions relating to the dissolution of the Lower House of the Federal Parliament have been filed at the Top Court.

President Bhandari had dissolved the HoR at wee hours on May 22 on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers and had declared fresh elections on November 12 and 19.

Earlier on December 20, President Bhandari had dissolved the House and announced snap polls on April 30 and May 10. However, on February 23, the constitutional bench of the SC led by Chief Justice Rana had overturned the President's decision and reinstated the HoR.
