Kathmandu, Aug 12 : The ruling Nepali Congress has called a meeting of the party's central working committee at 2:00 pm today. According to NC office chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel, the schedule of the party's 14th general convention and election guideline will be presented at the meeting.
The Congress has made public the schedule of the 14th General Convention to be held in Kathmandu from September 1 to 4.
According to the schedule, the village/municipal ward convention was scheduled for July 27, the rural municipality/municipality convention for July 31, and the provincial assembly regional convention for August 4.
Similarly, the regional convention of the House of Representatives was scheduled to be held on August 7, the district convention with only one constituency on August 10, the district convention with more than one constituency and the provincial convention on August 17 and 18.
The convention schedule so far has been affected by the active membership dispute. Therefore, the new schedule of the General Convention will be discussed in the meeting.
The 13th General Convention of the Nepali Congress was held in Kathmandu in March, 2016. According to the party statute, the Congress had extended the term for one year and after the expiration of the term in March extended again for six months as per the provisions of the Statute.
