Kathmandu, Dec. 25: Nepali Christian community is celebrating Christmas with fanfare throughout the country today. The day is celebrated every year on December 25 to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. The king of Rome Constantine started the celebration in 350 AD.
Non-Christians also started celebrating the festival with a lot of zeal after the festival was recognised as a national festival in 2007.
With the starting of December, decorated Christmas trees are seen in big shopping malls of the three cities of the Kathmandu Valley.
To mark the day, Christians visit churches and sing carol song, perform dances, exchanges gifts and eat different delicious food items.
The Christmas feasts comprises with fish, roasted chicken, vegetable, and other Nepali foods along with Christmas puddings, pumpkin pies and others.
