Kathmandu, Sept 16: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is conducting its central election on coming October 27 and 28.
A CAN meeting held on Monday with the participation of International Cricket Council (ICC) representatives Imran Khwaja and Amar Sheikh, National Sports Council (NSC) member-secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal and Independent Committee's legal advisor Rajeshwor Shrestha agreed to fix the new date for CAN election.
Prior to this, the Independent Committee fixed the election for September 20-21 following the completion of district and state elections and the NSC was not convinced by it, pushing the election towards uncertainty.
According to NSC member-secretary Silwal, the meeting agreed on the new election schedule, discussing the ways for making it free and transport and how to lift the ICC ban on CAN.
He expressed his hope that the ban would be lifted in the next International Cricket Council (ICC) ban.
Similarly, ICC representative Imran Khwaja said disputes existing in the Nepali cricket were near to resolution. After the election, a new leadership in Nepali cricket will come. He promised to make initiations for lifting the ban in the ICC upcoming meeting.
