By Dibya Rai, Khandbari, Sept. 7: The bodies of the six persons who were murdered Monday night at Umling in Madi Municipality ward no. 1 have been sent to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

The 6 members of the family of Baudman Karki was murdered with an iron rod by an unidentified group last night.

Lal Dhwaj Subedi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Sankhuwashabha District Police Office, said that, as per the preliminary investigation, the deceased were found to have been murdered with the use of iron rod on their head and bodies and not by any sharp weapons.

85-year old Baudman Karki is, however, unhurt, according to DSP Karki. As the octogenarian has lost hearing and cannot see clearly, he has no knowledge about when the murder took place at his home.

Tek Narayan Paudel, Chief District Officer of Sankhuwashabha, informed that the incident was being investigated by a special team under Superintendent of Police Bhim Dahal from federal police unit office, Dharan along with Yograj Khatiwada, police inspector of Area Police Office in Chainpur and a team led by DSP Subedi of Sankhuwashabha district police office.

Two sniffer dogs have also been deployed for incident investigation from the federal police unit office, Dharan, according to CDO Paudel.

Police have been deployed at all passage points of the district so that the culprits cannot escape, said Yograj Khatiwada, police inspector of Area Police Office in Chainpur.

84-year old Parbata Karki, the wife of Baudman Karki, was found dead inside a house located at Kholagaun of Umling at ward no. 1 of Madi Municipality while the body of his son, 52-year old Tej Bahadur Karki, was found at the roadside near the house, bodies of his daughters-in-law, 52-year old Kamala Karki and 32-year old Ranjana Karki were found at a sink beside the house, body of his grandson, 11-year old, Dipen Karki was found at a pasture land a little far away from the house and the body of his granddaughter, 7-year old Goma Karki, was recovered from a field near the house.

A team of forensic experts is said to have reached the incident site for the investigation and it is reported that even the neighbours had said that they did not know when the murder took place.
