Kathmandu, Feb. 9: The government has decided to declare Ward No. 18 of Biratnagar Metropolitan City in Morang district a ‘bird flu-affected zone’, and it has plans to control the bird flu in the area by making Himalayan Agriculture Farm a centre point.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday took the decision to this effect, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said while making the Cabinet decisions public by organising weekly regular press meet on Tuesday.

Responding to a query of a journalist after a report on a construction effort of a canal and iron fencing along the Kit River in Humla district up to the Karnali River by the Chinese officials, Minister Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, said Nepal and China have no border issue.

"We make an official opinion of the government not only on the basis of reports, but on the basis of reality by thoroughly studying the reality at an appropriate time," Minister Karki said. “The government of Nepal is firm in resolving border issue, if there is any, with China through diplomatic channels,” Minister Karki said. The Cabinet meeting held on Monday also decided to approve the National Broadcasting (Eleventh Amendment) Rules, 2078 B.S.

Similarly, the government has decided to approve the Fifth Amendment Rules 2078 on Security Board Registration and Issuance.
The government has decided to extend the tenure of honorary consulate generals working in Italy, Singapore, and Romania. Similarly, the government has also decided to approve the service delivery guideline 2078 related to mapping and land administration through digital system.

Spokesperson Karki said that the government has decided to provide compensation as relief to three houses that lie within the road boundary of Nuwakot district which falls under the jurisdiction of Gorkha office of the implementation of the Pushpalal (Mid-Hills) Highway Project.

He said the government had decided to approve the sixth periodical report of the Convention of the Rights of Children 1989 and submit it to the United Nations. Similarly, the government has also decided to declare the catchment area of Phewa Lake as a protected catchment area. Also, the government has decided to approve a multi-sectoral action plan for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
The meeting had also decided to hold the local level elections on May 13, which was made public on Monday.
