Kathmandu, April 1: The Special Session of Senior Officials' Meeting (S-SOM) of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) held virtually on Wednesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press statement, informed that Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal led the Nepali delegation to the Special Session of the SOM.
Secretary Paudyal made an assessment of progress made by the BIMSTEC in implementing the decisions in the 4th Summit held in Kathmandu and other high-level meetings following the Summit. Poudyal called for taking concerted efforts to make the BIMSTEC an effective organisation through deeper cooperation among the Member States for progress and prosperity of the region.
The meeting made deliberations on preparation for the 17th Ministerial Meet and drafted Joint Statement of the Meet to be held virtually, Thursday.
