Kathmandu, Jan. 30: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota on Wednesday forwarded four bills to President Bidya Devi Bhandari for authentication.
According to the Constitution, a bill must receive a final authentication from the President after the Federal Parliament endorses it.
Bills on Nepal Police and State Police (Functioning, Supervision and Coordination) Bill-2075, Police Adjustment Bill-2075, Land Management (Eighth Amendment) Bill-2075 and National ID Card and Civil Registration Bill-2075 were forwarded to the President.
Speaker Sapkota certified the bills before forwarding them to President Bhandari.
The authentication process of the bills had earlier been halted in the absence of a Speaker after former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara stepped down following attempted rape allegations against him.
Out of the five bills that the third session of the Federal Parliament had endorsed, Speaker Sapkota endorsed four.
Secretary at the House of Representatives Gopal Nath Yogi said that the four bills certified by Speaker Sapkota were sent to President Bhandari for authentication.
After the President authenticates them, they will be published in Nepal Gazette with stamp. Now, some of the contemporary issues like citizenship, police adjustment and land management are expected to be resolved.
The Police Adjustment Bill is believed to clear the path of police recruitment, adjustment and others at local, state and federal levels.
Meanwhile, Acting Ambassador of India to Nepal Dr. Ajaya Kumar paid a courtesy call to Speaker Sapkota at his office.
