Kathmandu, Oct 13: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is holding bilateral talks with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping at Hotel Crown Plaza Soltee in Kathmandu.
Bilateral ties, China’s support for Nepal’s development, among others, are the main agendas of the talks.
Several bilateral agreements and MoU will be signed in the presence of President Xi and PM Oli following the meeting.
Earlier, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) chairman and NCP secretariat members held meeting with Chinese President Xi.
Chairman Prachanda was heading the delegation of NCP secretariat members at the meeting with President Xi.
Bilateral ties, China’s support for Nepal’s development and the relations between the two ruling Communist parties were the major agendas of the meeting.
On Saturday, the first day of his visit, Xi had held bilateral talks with his Nepali counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas.
During the meeting, President Xi had discussed issues of mutual interest, the Office of the President said.
Xi had gone to the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas from Soltee Crown Plaza Hotel in Kathmandu.
After the meeting with Bhandari, Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba had met with the Chinese President.
Following the meeting with Deuba, Xi will had participate in a dinner reception to be hosted by President Bhandari.
Xi had said that feasibility study of cross-border railway would be conducted.
Delivering a keynote speech during dinner reception hosted by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Hotel Crown Plaza Soltee, President Xi said that China would help Nepal realise its dream to become a land-linked country.
Earlier on Saturday, President Bhandari had received Xi at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Similarly, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, deputy prime ministers and cabinet ministers had welcomed President Xi at the airport and his delegation.
He is scheduled to return home on Sunday afternoon.
