Bharatpur builds hospital in 72 hours

Chitwan, Mar. 20: A 70-bed hospital established to treat Nobel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in Bharatpur, Chitwan in case the disease breaks out in the country is all set to begin operation from Friday.
All the general wards are arranged by Thursday afternoon and work to fix equipment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and HDU wards is in progress, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal said.
An all-party meeting held on Tuesday decided to construct the 70-bed hospital consisting of 10-bed ICU and HDU wards each within 72 hours.
Secretary of the Preparation and Control of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Dr Bhoj Raj Adhikari said that the hospital would be handed over to a team of doctors within the period after completing the necessary works.
To construct the temporary hospital, 10 beds each from Bharatpur Hospital, Old Medical College and BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital and 20 beds from Chitwan Medical College were brought to the general ward of the hospital.
Similarly, 10 ICUs and 10 HDUs, including eight ventilators were brought from Cancer Hospital.
Nepali Army, Police and Armed Police Force were mobilised to turn an exhibition hall into the hospital.
According to Dr Adhikari, a team of doctors from Bharatpur Hospital, Urban Health Centre and Primary Health Centre will be deployed in the temporary hospital. There will be medicines, temperature measurement equipment, masks and other necessary equipment for the patients when required.
