By Upesh Maharjan, Kathmandu, Feb. 27: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the audio-tape of former Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Baskota, was made-up.
Speaking at the Bagmati State-level party workers’ meet held in Kathmandu on Wednesday, PM Oli, who is also one of two chairmen of the ruling NCP, said that Baskota had resigned from his post only on moral grounds.
Former Minister Baskota resigned without any established evidence, complaints and cases. “People have been attaching my name too in the case. If someone lodges complaint against fabricated audio tape of Baskota, it would be nothing but a baseless complaint,” the PM said.
Clarifying that his government was not involved in any acts relating to corruption, PM Oli said that lawful action would be taken against those who are proved to be involved in corruption.
In the same event, NCP's another Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said that Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) would be passed in favour of nation’s interest.
He said that a task-force was formed within the party to carry out detailed study on the MCC.
