By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept. 30:The hearing of the writ petition filed against the appointment of Bamdev Gautam, vice-chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, as the National Assembly member held on Wednesday in the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court (SC) has been adjourned. The next hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 2.
Debendra Dhakal, assistant spokesperson of the SC, said that the pleas of the petitioner and the Attorney General were heard on Wednesday by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR and Justices Dipak Kumar Karki, Hari Krishna Karki, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada in the constitutional bench.
In the single-bench hearing of the writ petition filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, the apex court had directed not to delegate Gautam with any further constitutional duty by issuing an interim order on September 23. As the petition sought constitutional interpretation, the case was further referred to the constitutional bench.
