Kathmandu, Oct. 24: The government is appointing the vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University (TU) soon. Three persons have been recommended by a search committee for the post.
Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel said on Wednesday that the government would appoint the vice-chancellor of the Tribhuvan University within a few days from the names recommended by the search committee.
Talking to The Rising Nepal, Minister Pokharel also said that the government would introduce a new education policy immediately after the Chhath festival.
Education laws will be drafted based on the policy, he said. “Nepal’s education sector will make the desired progress after the implementation of the laws.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology called the individuals interested to be appointed Vice-chancellors of Agriculture and Forestry University and Nepal Sanskrit University to submit their brief personal statement along with curriculum vitae.
Likewise, the MOEST sought similar documents from the persons interested to get the job of the chairpersons and members of the Service Commission of the Purbanchal University and Nepal Sanskrit University.
Breaching the tradition, the government has sought applications for the positions this time.
According to the decision of the search committee meeting held on Wednesday, the MOEST published the notice with one week deadline to prepare a roster of interested candidates, Minister Pokharel said.
The search committees of those universities issued such notice to select the right persons for the job, Minister Pokharel said.
Asking for a working plan could be better than asking for personal bio-data of any candidate, Kailash Nath Pyakurel, former vice chancellor of Agricultural and Forestry University, said.
Although the posts of officials in Pokhara University, Mid-Western University and Far-Western University have remained vacant since September 23, the government has not yet formulated search committees to nominate officials in those universities.
