By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Jan.31: All schools in Nepalgunj will remain closed for the next three days following excessive cold and relentless fog.
"With several teachers and students reeling under extreme cold, the Education Department under Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan has sent an official notice to all the public and private schools to shut their doors from Monday to Wednesday," said Gorakh Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the Education Department.
The notice issued orders recommencement regular classes from Wednesday as per the situation. “If the fogs show no sign of letting up, and if the cold doesn’t subside by Wednesday, we will be closing schools until Friday,” informed Chief Thapa.
According to Department of Water and Meteorology’s field office at Ranjha, temperature has been continuously plummeting since the last few days. On Sunday, Nepalgunj recorded a maximum temperature of 17.7 degree Celsius, and minimum of five degree Celsius.
Cold wave has gripped several aspects of daily life. The markets wear a deserted look as inhabitants shut themselves at the confines of their homes to stay away from the shivering cold.
As a result of mists blanketing the surrounding, morning air flights from Nepalgunj to hilly areas such as Humla, Bajura, Rara, Dolpa and Jumla have all been either delayed or cancelled owing to visibility issues.
