Kathmandu,April 1: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has informed that 87 persons suspected of coronavirus infection have been admitted to isolation wards in different hospitals.
Speaking at a regular media briefing on Tuesday, spokesperson at the MoHP Dr Bikash Devkota said that 10 suspected COVID-19 patients were at the isolation ward of Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital (STIDH) at Teku, Kathmandu while 77 others were admitted to various other hospitals outside Kathmandu.
Devkota informed that 1806 calls were received within 24 hours through the hotline numbers: 1115 and 1113 designated by the ministry.
He informed that the contact tracing of the four coronavirus-infected persons was expected to complete soon.
“Contact tracing of the two of the coronavirus-infected patients has already been completed and 20 per cent of remaining contact tracing of other two infected people is going on,” said Dr Devkota.
According to the ministry, 1060 specimens of the coronavirus suspects were tested as of Tuesday.
“Necessary arrangements have been made to widen the scope of the coronavirus test,” said Dr Devkota.
On the occasion Dr Devkota informed that the deaths which occurred on Monday in Patan and Bir hospitals were not related to COVID-19.
He asked all the private and government hospitals to

examine individuals having a high fever and reached there. “Let us not create another fatality under the scare of coronavirus,” he appealed to health centres.
“As the ministry is receiving so many complaints from the patients that they are not getting treatment when they have fever, the ministry asked all the health centres to provide the services and diagnose the disease.”
Fever is associated with various others diseases, so proper diagnosis is essential, he added.
