Birgunj, July 4: Some 74 thousand goats at 14 local levels of Parsa were vaccinated against the PPR disease.
The District Livestock Office said it received just 74 thousand doses of vaccines against the demand for 150 thousand doses from the Janakapur Laboratory.
Although the vaccine for PPR which is looming large as an epidemic for goats, is being administered every year in Parsa, it is not fully available in some places.
PPR is a contagious disease. But vaccination on time prevents its transmission. According to the office, the vaccine is recommended for adult goats and kids above three months. It is not recommended for pregnant goats.
