By Amarraj Naharki, Tanahun, Nov. 6: A 70-year-old male of Bhimad Municipality-6, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died on Thursday while staying in home isolation.
He was suffering from hypertension and diabetes was receiving treatment in ICU in Chitwan Medical College (CMC) after testing positive. Although the doctors at CMC had stated that the elderly required medical treatment, his family members had forcefully brought him back home.
"The elderly had returned from the hospital on Wednesday and he succumbed to the infection on Thursday," said Iman Thapa, ward chair of Bhimad-9.
Tanahun District Administration Office informed that the body was disposed of in the bank of Seti River.
After forcefully bringing the elderly back from CMC, the family members had requested to keep him at JP Koirala National Center for Respiratory Diseases.
As it was not possible to keep a patient with a serious medical condition at the center, the locals said that the elderly was taken back to his home with oxygen support.
With this, Tanahun's COVID-19 death toll has reached 14. Prior to this, three of the same family in Bhimad Municipality had succumbed to the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile, according to the press statement issued by Gandaki Health Directorate, some 11 persons have been detected with the novel coronavirus infection on Thursday.
