Kathmandu, Mar. 11: Nepal’s national COVID-19 caseload reached 274,973 on Wednesday, with 104 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours.
Likewise, with 63 new recoveries, the total recovery tally has reached 271,050, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
With this, the country’s COVID-19 recovery rate has reached 98.6 per cent. Nepal did not record any COVID-19 related death in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 3,012, according to the MoHP data.
Of the 3,488 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 46 female and 58 male were found to be infected with the virus.
In the past 24 hours, 56 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 14 in Gardakí Province, 22 in Lumbini Province, nine each in Province 1 and Karnali and two each in Sudurpaschim and Province 2.
Of the new infections, 45 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley’s three districts. Currently, there are 911 active cases of COVID-19 and 55 persons are placed in quarantine.
Globally, over 118 million people have been infected with the novel coronavirus while 2.6 million people have lost their lives to COVID-19 as of Wednesday.
Likewise, over 93 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 21 million cases are still active.

Over 209,127 vaccinated on Tuesday
The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is on progress. Senior citizens have actively participated in the campaign. On the third day of the second phase of vaccination drive, as many as 209,127 senior citizens were inoculated across the nation on Tuesday.
According to the MoHP, a total of 669,591 senior citizens aged above 65 years were inoculated as of Tuesday. No any severe side effect was reported among the vaccinated senior citizens, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at MoHP.
It is not unusual for some people to experience mild effects like headaches, muscle ache, mild fever, soreness and dizziness, among others after receiving the jab, according to Dr.Gautam.
The government is administering vaccines free of cost.
