Kathmandu, Dec.1: A total of 5,931 motorcycles have been captured in the current fiscal year by the Metro Police force under the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).
As per the data of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), 5,931 vehicles were captured in the current fiscal year and 7,353 in the fiscal year 2077/78.
According to Dharma Raj Bhandari, Inspector at the Metro Police Force, a total of 5,931 motorcycles have been captured by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) because of illegal parking.
He said, “There are a total of 72 places fixed for the smart parking across the KMC. Still, many people disregard it and park illegally.”
First of all, we receive information from Metro Police that illegal parking has been observed, causing discomfort to the civilians. After receiving the information, KMC stations its police officers to the place, and initially, police officers inform the vehicle owner about their conduct through a siren. If the owner disregards it, then, the vehicle is taken to the Bagikhana and a sum of Rs.1, 000 is fined to the vehicle owner, informed Inspector Bhandari to The TRN Online.
Because of the illegal parking, pedestrians face a lot of trouble, and sometimes, heavy traffic jams are observed in the city because 0f the illegal parking, He said, while adding that, sometimes, even the ambulances are disturbed which even puts the life at stake.
