Kathmandu, Nov 8 : A total of 544 new COVID-19 cases were reported among Nepalis abroad this week since the second wave of the coronavirus infection started in the western belt of the world.
According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), one more Nepali abroad succumbed to this deadly infection this week while fresh cases were reported from Spain, Netherlands, Austria, and Denmark among others.
The Health Committee of the NRNA informed that 163 COVID-19 infected Nepalis abroad enjoyed full recovery this week.
Dr Sanjeev Sapkota, Committee’s coordinator, shared that the COVID-19 caseload among the Nepalis in a total of 44 countries stands at 44,113.
Among them 40,728 (92 per cent) have fully recovered. Altogether 285 COVID-19 infected Nepali in 18 countries lost their lives to this flu-like infection.
In Nepal, the COVID-19 tally reaches 191,636 while 155114 of them have achieved full recovery. As of Saturday evening, 1,087 Nepalis have died due to coronavirus infection.
Meanwhile, the NRNA has handed over 10,000 pieces of antigen to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The substance which stimulates the production of an antibody when introduced into the body was received from Japan.
NRNA Vice-President Dr Badri KC handed over the antigen amounting to Rs 10 million to Minister of State for Health and Population Nawaraj Rawat.
