By Our Correspondent, Kawasoti, Oct. 28: With one more COVID-19 related fatality recorded in Nawalparasi (East) today, the death toll of the district has reached 18.
The District Health Office, Nawalparasi (East) informed that a 54-year-old male of Gaindakot Municipality-2 succumbed to the novel coronavirus while he was under treatment at Bharatpur Medical College.
He was found to have been infected with the virus on Oct 20 and was receiving treatment with ventilator facility, said Dr. Dayaram Lamsal, director of the Hospital.
The health office revealed that Nawalparasi (East) has recorded six COVID-19 deaths in the last one week.
Of the 10,617 Polymerase Chain Reaction tests done in the district, 8,953 have tested negative for the virus while 1,624 have tested positive. Currently, there are 556 active cases of COVID-19 in the district while 1,051 have already recovered, said Keshav Prasad Chapagain, chief of the health office.
