By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan. 18: With 322 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Monday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 267,644.
"In 4,306 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 3226 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) during the regular press briefing.
Of the new infections, 163 cases including 65 females and 99 males were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley.
Currently, there are 3,861 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation, and 221 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
Of the active patients, 1,102 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolations. Likewise, 161 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU and 34 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.
Meanwhile, 374 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 261,818 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate is at 97.8 per cent.
Moreover, six persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 1,965.
