Rara, May 23 : Two thousand 755 people have tested negative for coronavirus. The throat and nasal swabs collected on different dates from these people were tested at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS).
The swab samples were collected from these many people suspected of COVID-19 infection from Mugu, Humla, Kalikot and Jumla districts.
KAHS director Dr Mangal Rawat said the tests were carried out as per the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and all the samples tested negative.
He said collection of throat and nasal swabs has been intensified by mobilising teams of health workers in all the districts of the former Karnali zone after large number of people from these districts who and gone to India and other places of the country started returning home.
According to him, PCR tests were done on 424 samples collected at the Academy itself, 695 samples collected from Kalikot, 351 samples collected from Mugu, 789 samples collected in Jumla, 70 samples collected from the Nepal Army barracks, 408 samples collected from Humla and 18 swabs belonging to journalists.
