Kathmandu, Apr. 26: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has said that 1,945 new sample tests have been conducted among the coronavirus suspects within last 24 hours.
Speaking at the daily media briefing, Saturday, spokesperson at the MoHP Dr Bikash Devkota informed that 49,335 sample tests had been carried out till date through both RDT and PCR methods.
Among the total tests, 9,666 were conducted through PCR method and 39,670 through RDT method, said Dr Devkota. According to the latest update, 4,960 tests were carried out in State 1, a total of 5,044 tests in State 2, 7,467 in Bagmati State, 4,871 in Gandaki State and 2,950 tests in State 5. Likewise, 4,984 tests were conducted in Karnali State and 10,204 in Sudhurpachhim State through the RDT method.
Dr Devkota informed that altogether 14,731 persons are under quarantine while 87 suspected patients are kept in isolation wards of designated hospitals in various parts of the country. The MoHP received 1,900 calls regarding COVID-19 in its toll free number 1113 and 1115 in the past 24 hours.
On the occasion, Dr Devkota informed that some of the people under quarantine in various parts of the country were found to have been infected with malaria.
Among 49 COVID-19 patients, 15 have recovered and the health condition of the remaining is normal, said Dr Devkota.
