By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 24: The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday confirmed 145 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation's novel coronavirus tally to 276,389.
"In 3,963 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 145 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, assistant spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.
Of the new cases, 63 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley, including eight in Lalitpur, two in Bhaktapur and 53 in Kathmandu.
Currently, there are 1,182 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 213 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolations and 969 are placed in home isolation. Likewise, 52 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
Meanwhile, 90 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 272,187 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 98.5 per cent.
Moreover, one person succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the nation's COVID-19 death toll to 3,020.
