Kathmandu, July 25: Among the 3,987 specimens tested through Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) in the last 24 hours, 133 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the country.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Friday confirmed 133 new cases of COVID-19 of which 10 were from Kathmandu district.
According to Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the MoHP, 107 people were discharged from health facilities from across the country in the last 24 hours. As per today’s update, Nepal reported the recovery rate of 70.5 per cent.
With the recent additions, total number of recoveries has reached 12,947. Among them, 772 have been reported from State 1; 2,880 from State 2; 458 from Bagmati State; 1,102 from Gandaki State; 3,870 from State 5; 1,583 from Karnali State; and 2,282 from Sudurpaschim State. As per the latest update, there are 5,383 active cases of infection across the country.
Of them, 146 are in State 1; 1,901 in State 2; 439 in Bagmati State; 331 in Gandaki State; 354 in State 5; 315 in Karnali State and 1,897 in Sudurpaschim State.
Meanwhile, the MoHP has confirmed yet another COVID-19 death today. “A 85-year-old female of Birgunj -11, Parsa, who was undergoing treatment at the Narayani Hospital in Birgunj succumbed to this viral infection on Friday morning,” said Dr. Gautam.
She was a heart and pneumonia patient, added Dr. Gautam.
With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 18,374, including 12,947 cases of recoveries and 44 fatalities.
18 APF personnel test positive
for COVID-19 in Jhapa
Meanwhile, according to our Jhapa correspondent, COVID-19 infection has been confirmed in 18 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel deployed for border security in the eastern border, from tests carried out at the Provincial laboratory in Biratnagar, according to COVID-19 focal person of Jhapa, Jiwan Chamlagain.
Following the confirmed cases in the 18 APF personnel, including 17 male and one female personnel, the AFP Police Camp has been sealed off, according to Mechinagar Social Development Committee Coordinator Navin Baral.
On Friday, a total of 25 cases were confirmed in the district, including the 18 APF personnel.
