By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb. 15: The Ministry of Health and Population on Monday confirmed 122 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation's novel coronavirus tally to 272,840.
"In 3,541 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 122 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed the Ministry of Health and Population in its regular update.
Of the new cases, 73 were reported in the Kathmandu Valley.
Currently, there are 1,581 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 960 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 59 are admitted to the ICU and 17 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.
A total of 79 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation.
Meanwhile, 144 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 269,204 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 98.7 per cent.
Moreover, one person succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal's COVID-19 death toll stands at 2,055 and the death rate is 0.75 per cent.
