Bajura, Dec. 18: A 22-year-old girl, who was being trafficked to India, was rescued from Gaddachauki along the Nepal-India border.
According to Shanti Punarsthapan Griha (SPG), a woman of Tribeni Municipality-5 of Bajura was rescued from the Nepal-India border.
It is learned that the traffickers had promised her a good job in India before she agreed to cross the border which was ultimately foiled by timely intervention of police and concerned bodies.
According to the SPG, she was rescued from Gaddachauki while her relatives were taking her to India in the guise of getting her decent job in India.
The rescued girl shared she was not aware that she was being trafficked by her own relative.
“He promised to provide me with a good job in India, so I came along with him. I didn’t know that I was brought here for trafficking,” she said.
Sanjit Singh, Chief of Gaddachauki Shanti Punarsthapan Griha, said the girl was rescued on Tuesday while five youths from the same village were taking her to India under the pretext of providing her a decent job.
“Earlier, we rescued a 12-year-old girl of Mangalsen Municipality-9 of Achham District from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu,” Singh said.
The minor girl was trafficked in India by luring her with fake promises of a good job and education, said Singh.
He said, "The girl was rescued from an Indian brothel and brought to Nepal with the support of police of Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu."
The victim was reunited with her family, he added.
The girl’s relatives have requested the District Police Office, Kanchanpur to search for their missing girl. The Kanchanpur Police informed the SPG about the missing girl.
The girl was rescued only after receiving information that she had been trafficked to Tamil Nadu, India.
The victim said, "My uncle took me to India by luring me to provide a good job and proper education. But he sold me to a brothel owner and I was forced into prostitution.”
The traffickers lure the victims by offering them false hope of a well-paid job and better lifestyle, said Singh. They were targeting those who are financially weak, single women and minors.
According to Singh, about 115 women of Sudurpaschim Province have been rescued since August. Of them, seven were from Bajura, two from Achham, five from Doti, 46 from Kanchanpur, 18 from Kailali, five from Baitadi, one from Bajhang and four from Dadeldhura districts.
