10th NEFTA Awards to be held

Kathmandu, Dec. 28: The 10th edition of the NEFTA Awards, which was postponed earlier this year will be held in sometime around January/February 2021, although the exact date remains to be determined.
After getting postponed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organising body, Nepal Film Technical Association, is geared up to host the award show reportedly during the last week of the Nepali month of Falgun.
As per the press release issued by the organising committee, the felicitation ceremony will not be deferred any further.
“Since life has returned to normalcy, we want to carry on with NEFTA awards to make the drowsed cinema sector more active and dynamic,” stated Programme Coordinator Sushma Poudel (Gita).
The best five nominees for the award will be held on January 23, according to the press release.
According to Kamal GC, head of Dream High Nepal, the coordinator of the event, the organisers are working on the final preparations for the event.
“We will announce the official date of the award ceremony on the day the top five are announced,” informs GC.
NEFTA has assured to conduct the ceremony with strict adherence to the safety standards and social distancing protocols.
The awards ceremony, which was scheduled to be held in Tundikhel on April 4, was postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus around the world.
NEFTA has apologised to all the audience, filmmakers, sponsors and well-wishers for of not being able to hold the programme on the stipulated time.
